Study and Internships Abroad
Frequently asked questions
-
What does it mean to agree on the recognition of the course with the guarantor?
- If you find a course at a foreign university about which you're think that it could be recognized at FIT as compulsory / optional, contact the guarantor of the course at FIT and send him the syllabus of this course with a question whether it is possible to recognize this course.
- If the content of the foreign course does not completely cover the requirements of the course for FIT, this course can be supplemented by other foreign ones => the C / CE course at FIT is then replaced by two courses brought from abroad.
Note:
The actual recognition of the course takes place only after the successful completion of the course and delivery of Transcript of Records, and it is necessary to apply for them through the FIT Information System.
A course from a trip abroad can also be recognized as a compulsory or elective course in which the student has previously failed at FIT.
-
How to choose a foreign university if I want to go on a study stay and not extend my study
- When you plan to travel, the first step is to study your own study plan in the semester, focusing on compulsory courses for the period.
- Then take a look at the list of courses that have already been brought in from abroad and identify the institution where there could be the largest overlap with compulsory courses at FIT.
-
What do I have to do to be able to study a course at FIT "at a distance" during a trip abroad?
Contact the guarantor of the selected course by e-mail with a request for information about the possibility of an individual study plan due to a trip abroad (e.g. alternative term of the exam, project instead of exercises, etc.). In case of a positive answer and agreement with the proposed individual modifications of activities in the course, apply for an individual study plan in the course in the FIT IS.
-
What to do if I exceeded the limit of allowed credits due to the study stay?
If you exceed the credit limit when going abroad, you can request an increase, which is typically allowed.
-
What if I miss a few credits because of study stay?
We also remembered to this possibility, so we recommend ideally before the trip to enrol in the course Professional Practice, Abroad (abbreviation ZPX), after returning from the trip you will write a report on the stay in the range of about 1A4, which you will submit to the study department and get 5 credits for it. If you are going for a whole year, you can enrol in this course for each semester separately.

-
I thought I should have got a Learning Agreement from a partner university, but they told me that I should get the Learning Agreement at our university.

Meeting language requirements is a must. In some institutions, they are considered as a recommendation, however, universities are increasingly demanding a certificate of language competence. The standard requirement for study is English at B2 level.
