Foreign cooperation
FIT's activities abroad focus on cooperation in international projects with both academic institutions and industrial companies. These include research projects under the 8th Framework Programme of the European Commission, HORIZON 2020, as well as projects under the JU ECSEL program and others. The research teams also regularly participate by collaborating with leading foreign partners in the application sphere, especially from the US, China, and the UK. Furthermore, they actively participate in the involvement of foreign experts in research activities and regularly visit the workplaces of foreign partners.
Exchanges of students, teachers and non-academic staff with foreign partner institutions are also organized in the area of FIT's foreign activities, as well as trips to other institutions and organizations of a non-university nature for training, vocational courses or practical internships. Approximately 60 students of FIT go on a one- or two-semester exchange every year and about 70 students from foreign institutions come to study or gain professional experience at FIT. About 40 employees travel annually to teach or gain experience at foreign institutions for stays of one or more weeks, while foreign guests come to FIT for similar stays too.
The above-mentioned exchange activities are mainly financed by the EU project ERASMUS +, within the framework of direct support from the MEYS via BUT institutional development projects. Mobility of students and employees is co-financed centrally from BUT resources and also from the Faculty budget.
