The paper deals with an applicability of the formal languages theory concepts into the system modelling area. The concepts of the system language, modelling and decision power, model complexity and their impacts to model analysis or synthesis are discussed or outlined.

The concepts of the system language, modelling and decision power, model complexity and their impacts to model analysis or synthesis are discussed or outlined. Some of the benefits of the approach will be illustrated in the class of Petri nets models and Petri nets languages.
