fingerprint biometrics, sensors, simulation
The main goal of this article is to describe a method for the simulation of swipe sensor damage into synthetic fingerprints. As a part of this solution, the swipe sensor damage is firstly analysed. After that a method which is based on previous research in touch-based sensors is designed. The swipe mode, which simulates effects of the reconstruction algorithm and a specialized narrow damage, is presented. 27 different damages (in four categories) are shown as an example. Combinations of these basic damages are also created. In total 1,151 different damages and damage combinations (in almost 350 thousand images) are evaluated by the NFIQ, the VeriFinger (the quality and comparison score) and the Oravec quality method. The highest quality drop is by 16 % in quality and 60 % in comparison score by "pm2 dis0 narr4 dmg1" damage.
