Research Centre of Information Technology
Info
The Research Centre of Information Technology (VCIT) was established as part of the IT4Innovations Center of Excellence, a unique project aimed at building a national center of excellent research in the field of information technology. The result of the project combines the function of a research center for academic purposes with research for the needs of the application sphere and cooperation with commercial entities in the form of contractual cooperation. The project was successfully completed and successfully passed the five-year sustainability period.
The newly built center allowed for a stronger concentration of scientific disciplines related to information technology and provided space and equipment for a number of research teams. Specifically, the spatial and computer infrastructure that has been successfully operating to this day was built at FIT BUT, especially the Q building with space for scientific and research work and cooperation with partners. The project also included the acquisition of a powerful supercomputer in Ostrava, the use of which FIT continues to participate. It can be said that the result of the IT4Innovations project continues to function successfully, which was also the purpose of the project.
VCIT has gradually taken over responsibility for the organization of research, scientific and other projects at the faculty. It deals with the solution of faculty-wide projects and VCIT project managers help potential and current principal investigators of other projects with their preparation, smooth progress of the solution even during the sustainability period.
