Annotation
Xilinx Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) belong to very popular ASICs. A design with these components is supported by several development systems. Two auxiliary design tools that can be used when a design or its part is to be implemented by a Xilinx FPGA are presented in the paper. Both can be understood as an alternative design entry to the XACT development system. The first tool makes possible to use a state machine description in the OrCAD/PLD language as a design entry and the second one enables to simulate a description in VHDL and to compile a structural description of parts that are to be implemented on a Xilinx gate array into the format of the XACT system.
