Abstract
Typically, it is supposed that the accumulated computational demand of tasks does not go behind the computational possibilities of a CPU utilized to execute the tasks. However, many real situations (such as enviromental changes, unexpected signal delays, transient error or excessive asynchronnous stimulation of a system) can lead to exhaustion of computational resources. The article presents basic mechanisms able to guarantee predictable behavior of a system just in the situations in which the system is overloaded and is liable to fail.
