university-industry collaboration, business strategies
This paper deals with our experiences in establishing co-operation between technical university and industries. Our experiences show that the expectations of commercial partners are usually different from the motivations of university. This difference in opinion can cause termination of dealings despite of the fact that the arrangement would be possible. We explain the university motivation and the university expectations from the commercial partners. Furthermore we suggest some starting concepts of collaboration, which we find critical for the success of the opening dealings. We try to answer the question what to offer to the university partner to attract his interest according to the aims of commercial partner. Finally the problems of missing model agreements between universities and industry and strict laws defining student works as publicly available in Czech Republic are discussed.
