Abstract
This article is dealing with biometric authentication. We propose ananalysis of challenge-response approach usability together with an appropriatecandidate for such an approach - visual evoked potentials (VEP). Theirphysiological properties and recognition capabilities are presented. We designand implement methods covering all phases necessary for processing VEP as abiometric characteristic and perform them on a test database. The efficiency ofour approach is presented in an appropriate way. We also propose our design ofa biometric authentication system based on the VEP characteristic.
