virtual collaborative environment, 3D geometrical modeling in medicine
This paper deals with the problems of distant consultations between physicians and technicians during the preparation of 3D geometrical models in medicine. A Virtual Collaborative Environment allows to solve the problems by allowing the consultations to be held over the internet.
This paper is focused on the virtual collaborative consultation system which is intended for support of 3D geometrical modelling applications in the field of clinical human medicine. The system allows uploading the CT/MR data and 3D tissue geometry models (prepared in advance). The data create a 3D scene, which allows for viewing of the data and consulting them between technicians and physicians over the mediom of computer network. For communication between the server and client, the HTTPS protocol is used. Test results in Czech republic and the world-wide tests as well confirm, that the system i practically applicable and beneficial.
