Automated Testing of Reliability of Networked Systems
fault-injection, SWIFI, network testing
Many current applications, such as IoT, client-server, and cloud-based solutions, heavily rely on computer networks and their reliability. However, real networks are not immune to faults, including hardware issues, performance challenges, and even malicious attacks. Therefore, testing of networked systems should encompass the evaluation of the system's fault tolerance under various network conditions. This paper proposes a novel method based on fault injection intended to ease such testing, including advanced testing tasks such as finding reliability bounds of the systems under test. The method has been implemented, and we demonstrate its use on a real-world remote-driving system.
