Abstract

This paper presents concepts of a development environment for IEEE1451-based applications of smart sensors accessed through Internet. Itdeals with an integrated, sensor networking framework stemming from the1451.1 object-based networking model [6], complemented by the InternetProtocol (IP) multicast that mediates efficient and unified access fromInternet to smart sensors. The kernel of the paper deals with tools andtechniques aiming to prop specification and design life cycle phases ofapplications. A pressure measurement analyzer, which is a pilotapplication developed concurrently with design tools and techniques,serves as a case study to demonstrate the design approach.
