Abstract

This article deals with the recording of fingerprints for police purposes as well as possible damage to the finger (e.g. due to external influences, diseases), which are often found at the crime scene. He also deals with the automated processing of these fingerprints together with the generation of synthetic fingerprints with simulated damages. The aim is to explain the principles of fingerprint processing in criminal practice. At the scene of the crime, the fingerprints of a potential offender are recorded, in which not only the agreement (in the Czech Republic) of a minimum of ten minutiae with an already stored fingerprint is sought, but precisely such anomalies of interest, which with a fairly high probability a specific offenders. These anomalies can, for example, be caused by different diseases or influences of the environment (e.g. severe manual work) which have an influence on the skin structure (structure of the papillary lines). These fingerprints have a complex algorithmic processing, this problem being discussed in the article as well as the generation of synthetic fingerprints.
