Abstract

The article outlines basic terms, problems and their solutions related to dependability of RT systems. A system is called dependable if it is able to operate according to its specification. Dependability can be quantified on basis of several quantities such as reliability, availability, maintainability, safety or security. This paper does not present related concepts in an exhaustive way. Rather, it outlines typical representatives of problems and their solutions applicable for designing RT systems controled by an RTOS regarding dependability aspects.
