DDoS attacks impose a significant threat to availability for current Internet services. They are used for cyber warfare, hacktivism or disrupting competitors services in online business. Unfortunately, the cost-effective defense against DDoS attacks is hard, and it is getting even more complicated as DDoS attack techniques evolve. The project aims to create a referential implementation of DDoS defense that could be used in any CESNET members network. One of the goals of the project is also to take into consideration different aspects of academic high-speed networks. The project puts a great emphasis on open source software and tools developed by CESNET during the implementation of the DDoS defense. Project's output could be used as a template by any member of CESNET when implementing DDoS protection.
