The goal of this software was to create a secure infrastructure to enable the
operation of modern sensors, ensuring the authenticity, integrity and temporal
anchoring of the acquired data. The infrastructure was implemented and then its
parameters were verified on a task of processing data from camera sensors in
a real and simulated environment. From the conducted experimentations we can
conclude that the requirements for deployment in the given application were
met.
The created infrastructure for the operation of the sensors serves mainly to
verify the possibility of deployment and to achieve the required parameters. For
simplicity, most of the source code was written in Python, which is very suitable
for experimentation but less so for live deployment in critical applications such
as traffic monitoring. Therefore, this project result will be used as a "golden
standard" and will be subsequently re-implemented in existing Cameo systems.
The proposed infrastructure is reasonably scalable to systems containing dozens
of sensors, which is more than sufficient for Camea's traffic monitoring needs,
but in industrial applications for example this may be limiting. Therefore, we
foresee further possible extensions of the result in the area of processing data
from hundreds or more sensors, where tools for initializing and managing these
sensors will need to be developed, or mechanisms for redistributing the data
storage and verification workload across multiple nodes in the cloud will need to
be developed.
