Description

The "Smart Autopilot" provides for automaticflight control, when the pilot-selected autopilot mode is activated, allowingfor more efficient crew workload reduction and a redistribution of awareness infavor of navigation tasks and avionic systems control. The Smart Autopilotsystem includes a primary flight display with an integrated flight control computer,multifunction display, a set of electromechanical actuators, a digitalnavigation platform, and a propulsion-monitoring unit. The smart autopilot iscommanded through: a touch-screen user interface that is part of the primaryflight display and multifunction display, a dedicated return button on theinstrument panel, and an autopilot button located at the top of the controlstick/wheel grip. Selectable autopilot modes contain stabilization of indicatedairspeed IAS, altitude ALT, track TRK, and automatic flight according to apredefined flight plan.
