EU subsidy: CZK 1,546,566,704.85
Subsidies from the state budget of the Czech Republic: 272 923 536.15
The aim of the project:
The main contribution of the IT4Innovations Center of Excellence project is the creation of a unique structure of national and international importance focused on key areas of science and research, such as the development of the information society, the development of embedded systems, innovative medicine and nanotechnology and, last but not least, the development of information technologies themselves. The IT4Innovations Center of Excellence project also represents an exceptional unification of scientific, research and development capacities in the field of computer science and mathematics to ensure the development of a range of modern and progressive technologies. The potential emergence of such a center evokes further demand for new sophisticated services that could not have been realized without a research infrastructure of national importance. In this way, we are creating a basis for the close connection of basic and applied research with a clearly specified impact on innovation.
The core of the planned center will be computing, which is set upon other science disciplines and formulated into three interrelated key research areas:
- IT4People - research focused on improving the quality of life of society through modern information technology.
- SC4Industry - supercomputing for solving industrial problems, modeling in natural sciences and nanotechnologies (shape optimization, material design, biomechanical simulation, ...).
- Theory4IT - an area focused on basic research, especially on the development of new non-traditional computational methods (knowledge mining, ant-hill theory).

Intelligent Sensors for Traffic Monitoring
URL: https://www.fit.vut.cz/research/project/1562/
Registration number: CZ.01.1.02/0.0/0.0/21_374/0026902
Project launch: 1. 1. 2022
Project completion: 31. 5. 2023
The total amount of the subsidy: 12 798 thous. CZK
The aim of the project is to innovate constuction and experimentally research and verify the possibilities of using intelligent sensors for traffic monitoring and detection of traffic offenses. The project is focused on such systems that are based on a camera with inputs from additional sensors, such as radar, laser meters, or other additional sensor inputs to improve the useful properties of the resulting solution and its possible use in transport and ITS (intelligent transportation system) . We anticipate the use of existing experience and developed modules for experimental design and verification of sensors, and the key point is the future possibility of continuing to the finished product. For sensors, we will use "edge computing" and "cloud computing" balanced so that the sensor is pre-processed, leading to a reduction in data flow and computational demands on servers while maintaining low power consumption and small size. The expected result of the project is an innovated camera sensor with new useful features and infrastructure for the sensor, in the form of functional samples and relevant software.
