Jelinek Summer Workshop on Speech and Language Technology (JSALT) 2025

In the summer of 2025, the Faculty of Information Technology at Brno University of Technology (FIT BUT), in cooperation with Phonexia, will host the prestigious international event Jelinek Summer Workshop on Speech and Language Technology (JSALT), organized by Johns Hopkins University with the participation of the European ESPERANTO project.

Thanks to this event, FIT BUT and the city of Brno will become a global hub of research in speech technologies, language modeling, and artificial intelligence for two months.

The program is divided into two parts:

The Summer School (June 9-20) offers intensive education in speech and language technologies through morning lectures (held in lecture hall E112) and afternoon labs (in computer labs N103, N104, and N105). Morning lectures are also open to broader public interested in the topic.

The Research Workshop (June 23 - August 1) brings together more than 100 researchers from around the world. Over the course of six weeks, they will work in four selected teams on current challenges in the field. The research teams are defined by their respective target topics. For this year's 32nd edition of JSALT, the topics are:

• Play your Part: Towards LLM role-playing agents that stick to their roleAdvancing
• Expert-Level Reasoning and Understanding in Large Audio Language Models
• End to End multi channel multi talker ASR, EMMA
• TTS4ALL: TTS in low resource scenarios: data management, methodology, models, evaluation
